Key Responsibilities:

We are currently working in partnership with a large public sector body, who are looking to appoint a Senior HR Policy Specialist on a 3-6 month temporary contract . This is a full-time position and a competitive salary aligned with public sector policy and employee relations roles. The position is due to start on the 14th of July. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of developing HR policies and procedures, along with strong understanding of employment law, policy governance and stakeholder consultation.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Leading the end-to-end review and development of HR policies, procedures, and guidance to ensure they reflect up-to-date, high-quality practices and are legally compliant
- Working in collaboration with senior colleagues to proactively monitor the external environment and maintain a live analysis of relevant political, economic, social, technological, legal and environmental developments
- Supporting the development of risk mitigation strategies by logging internal and external risks and coordinating responses through established project management and governance frameworks
- Coordinating and administering consultation forums with recognised staff bodies to support the development and agreement of policy initiatives
- Designing new organisational policies and supporting materials in collaboration with stakeholders, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, employee wellbeing, and legal standards
- Shaping and promoting flexible and hybrid working strategies that reflect modern working practices and the organisation’s commitment to wellbeing and innovation
- Managing the implementation journey for new HR policies through cross-functional collaboration with internal departments and external partners
- Contributing expertise to the development of organisational strategies relating to employee health and safety testing, and assisting in the creation of tender specifications
- Engaging in collaborative working with other policy owners across departments to ensure consistency and reduce operational silos
Experience required:
- Demonstrable experience designing and delivering HR policies that align with legal, strategic, and organisational priorities
- Experience conducting environmental scanning and using external insights to inform strategic decision-making in a workforce or HR function
- Proven ability to support risk identification and mitigation efforts in collaboration with project management and governance teams
- Previous involvement in policy consultations with representative bodies or trade unions
- Experience working cross-functionally to implement policies or initiatives involving multiple stakeholder group
