Summary: This role is for a People & Culture Operations Senior / HR Operations Senior at Barnett Waddingham, based in either Bristol or Cheltenham, on a hybrid working model. The position is an 18-month fixed-term contract focused on delivering HR operational services and enhancing employee experience. Key responsibilities include supporting integration work post-acquisition, coaching HR team members, and ensuring compliance across HR processes. The role also involves reporting, process improvement, and operational support for broader HR initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support integration-related work following recent acquisition, including data collection, contract and policy review, TUPE processing, and structured data transfer across platforms.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex administrative queries and exceptions, applying sound judgement and balanced decision-making.
  • Coach and support HR Assistants and Administrators to build knowledge, consistency, and confidence in service delivery.
  • Ensure governance and compliance across lifecycle processes including onboarding, offboarding, position management and contractual change.
  • Support immigration processes and ensure ongoing compliance with UKVI regulations via the SMS system.
  • Lead and coordinate updates to SharePoint content; maintain structure, accuracy and usability of HR sites and support with ongoing process mapping, optimisation and documentation of standard operating procedures.
  • Develop and deliver reporting and analysis that supports audit, continuous improvement, and decision-making.
  • Work with the HR Operations Manager to prepare for internal and external ISO audits, and ensure agreed actions are completed.
  • Provide operational support for broader HR projects and initiatives across the People & Culture team.

Key Skills:

  • A relevant HR qualification, Chartered member of CIPD or qualified by experience.
  • Experience coaching or managing junior team members.
  • Excellent generalist HR experience and HR operations experience with a specialism in operational delivery, systems, HRIS and compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply logic and structured thinking to process design, policy interpretation, and operational decisions.
  • Experience supporting integration or change projects, including TUPE, policy harmonisation, or systems transitions.
  • Accomplished to interpret and use data and insights to inform action.
  • Highly competent in preparing and editing internal communications and guidance materials.
  • Experience with SharePoint administration and information governance is desirable.
  • Expert in Microsoft Office and capable of learning new systems.
  • Knowledge or experience with Oracle and/or Workday an advantage.

We have an exciting opportunity for a People & Culture Operations Senior / HR Operations Senior to join our growing People & Culture team. This role can be based from our Bristol or Cheltenham office on a hybrid working basis between home and office. Please note that this is an 18 month fixed term contract, with opportunity to extend.

The People Culture team provides a full HR service encompassing Total Reward, People Experience, Organisational Design & Talent, Resourcing and Talent Acquisition, and HR Operations. Assisting the HR Operations Manager in delivering an excellent operational service and employee experience for Barnett Waddingham, this role will support the day-to-day running of core People Operations activity, acting as a point of escalation for the HR Assistants and Administrators, and will play a key role in driving consistency, compliance, and process improvement across the team.
