Summary: The HR Officer at Great British Nuclear (GBN) is responsible for supporting the full employee lifecycle, leveraging HR principles and employment law to deliver exceptional services. This role is critical in ensuring a positive employee experience and requires strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. The position is a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave, emphasizing the importance of HR support within the nuclear workforce. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide HR guidance and support to employees and managers, addressing inquiries and resolving concerns.
  • Partner with hiring managers throughout the recruitment process, from screening resumes to onboarding new hires.
  • Manage payroll and employee benefits administration, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain confidential and accurate employee records, analyzing data to identify trends and inform HR strategies.
  • Proactively address HR-related issues, such as performance concerns or attendance problems, using effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Foster strong working relationships with internal stakeholders to provide seamless HR support.
  • Stay up-to-date on HR regulations, industry best practices, and new technologies to continuously improve HR services.
  • Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and professional ethics.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive work environment.

Key Skills:

  • Strong understanding of HR processes, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, and payroll.
  • Proficiency in HR software tools, applicant tracking systems, and payroll systems.
  • Strong understanding of employee relations principles and conflict resolution techniques.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with employees at all levels.
  • A strong commitment to customer service and building positive relationships.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and work independently while collaborating effectively with others.
  • Previous experience within HR role is essential, whilst currently pursuing or holding an HR qualification is preferable.
