Join Sheffield City Council as an HR Consultant and contribute to the development and improvement of our integrated HR service. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to deliver professional HR services and support business strategies within a dynamic public sector environment.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Translate Council, portfolio, and service priorities into practical HR solutions that support the organisation's strategic objectives.
  • Promote and support business improvement and organisational change across various levels.
  • Deliver HR services in line with agreed quality standards and manage risk appropriately when giving advice.
  • Provide business-focused HR solutions using specialist HR knowledge.
  • Support budget management activities linked to projects and work programmes.
  • Provide day-to-day technical and professional guidance to colleagues, mentor team members, and contribute to project and programme teams.
  • Deliver a professional, risk-based HR consultancy service to managers, ensuring HR advice is legally compliant and based on best practice.
  • Support managers with the people aspects of organisational change initiatives and promote positive employee relations across the organisation.
  • Develop, review, and implement HR and people management policies ensuring they reflect HR best practice.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience of using organisational and business insight to influence change through people, processes, and systems.
  • Strong relationships building skills with stakeholders including managers, customers, partners, and suppliers.
  • Experience of working in a large, complex, multi-disciplinary organisation.
  • Proficient in employment policies and procedures, employment law, and equality legislation.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to apply workforce data analysis and interpretation.
  • Knowledge of pay and reward policies and procedures, performance management, and employee engagement approaches.
  • Skills in policy development, research, coaching, and negotiation.
  • Degree, professional qualification, equivalent experience, or evidence of transferable skills and learning.
