Summary: The HR Business Partner will collaborate with the Building leadership team to implement the people strategy effectively, coaching line managers to enhance engagement and performance. This role involves utilizing people data to improve project outcomes and supporting talent management processes. The HR Business Partner will also champion engagement initiatives and work within the HR Service Delivery model. The position requires strong interpersonal skills and a thorough understanding of employment law in a complex business environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate role modelling of HR business partnering across the Operating Unit.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the commercial viability of Operating Unit projects.
  • Utilise people data to measure and improve project performance.
  • Develop robust relationships with leaders to influence decision making.
  • Support the HR Director with resource forecasting and strategy implementation.
  • Drive talent review processes and ensure robust succession plans are in place.
  • Champion the Operating Unit engagement survey and work on areas requiring intervention.
  • Support and work within the HR Service Delivery model with HR specialist functions.

Description And Requirements

As the HR Business Partner you will partner with the Building leadership team, including Divisional Directors, Commercial and Pre-construction Directors, and Project Management teams, to lead the successful delivery of the people strategy. You will coach and empower line managers to take ownership of people-related matters, fostering high levels of engagement and performance across the Operating Unit. As both a practitioner and account manager for all HR activities, you will collaborate with shared specialist resources, embodying the ‘One Skanska’ philosophy to deliver integrated and effective HR solutions

What you’ll do:

  • Demonstrate role modelling of, and be ambassador for, HR business partnering across the Operating Unit.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of how the Operating Unit projects are commercially viable and add value through people related activities.
  • Utilise people data to measure and improve project performance.
  • Develop robust relationships with leaders and gain their respect to be able to influence decision making.
  • Support the HR Director with resource forecasting for the Operating Unit to understand future requirements and implement strategies to address.
  • Drive the Operating Unit talent review processes, and work with leaders to ensure robust succession plans are in place for key roles across multiple time horizons.
  • Ensure that talent is identified, developed and retained
  • Effectively champion the Operating Unit engagement survey and outputs to leverage engagement levels and work with leaders on areas which require intervention.
  • Actively support and work within the HR Service Delivery model, in partnership with HR specialist functions

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Proven delivery in the key areas of generalist HR including business partnering experience, coaching senior leaders and line managers through people related matters.
  • A thorough and up to date knowledge of employment law, and experience of practical application of this in a complex business environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills with a track record of building credible relationships.
  • Resilient - able to face challenges proactively and comfortable dealing with senior management of the organisation.
  • Able to work as part of a team; demonstrates the ability to network effectively up, down and across the business.
  • MCIPD qualified is desirable
