Summary: The HR and Training Advisor role is focused on providing comprehensive HR support and training for a specific group of employees throughout the employee lifecycle. Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a partner to managers, understanding business priorities and agreeing on HR interventions.
- Provide advice, guidance, coaching, and support on employee relations and best practices.
- Deliver best practice people policies and processes, ensuring effective management of key employee moments.
- Maintain HR and Training records in compliance with GDPR and statutory requirements.
- Support the HR team in updating policies in line with legislative changes.
- Manage industrial relations and maintain good relationships with unions.
- Provide reports on KPIs and people metrics, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.

The Opportuntiy: HR and Training Advisor (Onsite Northwich)
Job Purpose: This role is responsible for all generalist HR & Training activities for a specific group of employees across the full employee lifecycle. A trusted partner to our Operational teams, you will work in close co-operation with the Head of HR, line managers and their teams. to provide guidance on HR policies, employee relations to include investigations, consultations, disciplinaries and providing HR advise on performance, learning and development, absence, and engagement initiatives. We’re looking for a HR & Training Advisor who can hit the ground running, quickly understand the site, and bring experience, confidence and initiative.
What You Will Contribute
- Act as a partner to all managers in their area of responsibility understanding their business priorities and agreeing appropriate HR interventions – to ensure all members of their teams are provided with a work environment which enables best performance and productivity.
- Provide advice, guidance, coaching and hands on support across a range of people matters, employee relations and in best practices around leading change and in managing and engaging their teams to ensure a culture of inclusion and diversity.
- Effectively deliver best practice people policies and processes– ensuring that moments that matter to all employees (e.g. induction, job changes and promotions etc) are managed well - do the ordinary extraordinarily well.
- Ensure all HR and Training records are maintained consistently and accurately and in compliance with GDPR and other statutory requirements.
- Work with the HR team to ensure that all policies are updated in line with changes in legislation and managers are made aware of these changes as appropriate.
- In conjunction with the HR team support effective management of industrial relations– ensuring good relationships with recognised unions.
- Provide reports of all KPIs and people metrics identifying trends and opportunities for improvements and actions.

- Demonstrable experience in all aspects of generalist HR within a manufacturing business – including managing ER/IR situations.
- Understanding and experience of HR interventions which drive business productivity and performance.
- Demonstrable experience of coaching managers and employees.

Key Experience
- Previous HR advisory experience in a fast-paced HR role, ideally within manufacturing or FMCG or similar fast-paced settings - Essential
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Excellent communication, coaching, problem solving and relationship-building skills.
- A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach with a passion for people.
- CIPD level 5 qualification (or working towards) is desirable.
- Excel – Advanced: Create pivot tables, dashboards, and trackers for absence, ER cases, and KPIs.
- Power BI Build visual reports to present trends and insights to senior stakeholders, supporting strategic decisions.
