Summary: The HR Advisor at Ruth Miskin Training will be responsible for delivering high-quality HR services to support over 180 staff members. This role involves advising on HR policies, managing employee relations, and ensuring compliance with employment law. Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the first point of contact for all HR-related queries from employees and managers.
  • Provide advice and guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Support and guide managers through employee relation matters.
  • Conduct employee risk assessments independently.
  • Provide support and guidance related to wellbeing.
  • Conduct return to work meetings and exit interviews.
  • Administrate the recruitment process from advertising to onboarding.
  • Assist Head of HR with the development and updates to policies.
  • Provide advice on pay and benefits.
  • Maintain and update the HR Information System (HRIS).
  • Contribute to the development of HR best practices and support organizational change initiatives.
  • Document processes and best practices in the form of an HR manual.

Key Skills:

  • CIPD Level 5 qualification.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar HR advisory role in the UK.

Reporting to: Head of HR
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Place of work: London Head Office (currently working to hybrid model)
Hours of work: 08:30 to 17:00 (with 1 hr unpaid lunch break)
Contract: Permanent, full time

Ruth Miskin Training is a leading education and training company based in London. We are experiencing an exciting period of growth and looking for a proactive and professional HR Advisor to join our friendly HR team! The HR Advisor will play a vital role in delivering a high-quality HR service across the organisation (180+ staff), supporting line managers and employees with a range of HR issues. They will ensure compliance with employment law and internal policies whilst always maintaining fairness and consistency. The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a busy HR department and hold a CIPD Level 5 qualification. They will be a skilled communicator, operating with a warm and professional approach - handling sensitive and confidential information with care and empathy. Responsibilities

  • Employee Relations
  • Act as the first point of contact for all HR-related queries from employees and managers
  • Provide advice and guidance on HR policies, procedures and best practice
  • Ensure fair and consistent application of HR policies and procedures
  • Support and guide managers through employee relation matters
  • Provide managers with coaching on people matters
  • Provide mediation (when required) to address employee relations issues informally
  • Conduct employee risk assessments independently (e.g. maternity, international travel)
  • Provide support and guidance related to wellbeing (e.g. signposting to useful guidance/support where relevant)
  • Liaise with other departments to find solutions for employee matters
  • Conduct return to work meetings with staff following periods of leave (such as sickness, parental, compassionate. Etc)
  • Conduct exit interviews with leavers
  • Administrate the leaving process
  • Support managers with setting up and the management of individual support plans
  • Maintain trend analysis records for the department highlighting areas for improvement to the Head of HR
  • Recruitment and Onboarding
  • Provide guidance and support on our recruitment processes to hiring leads
  • Administrate the recruitment process from advertising to onboarding (shared responsibility amongst the HR team)
  • Coordinate the onboarding process with the HR/ Payroll Coordinator ensuring all checks and documentation are obtained
  • Lead HR inductions for all new starters
  • Provide and/ or coordinate key training sessions/ presentations to staff
  • Policy and Procedure
  • Assist Head of HR with the development of/ updates to RMT policies
  • Assist Head of HR to ensure policies are legally compliant and up to date
  • Draft new policies for review
  • Communicate any new or updated policies/ procedures to all staff in a timely manner
  • Keep up to date with changes in employment law
  • Compensation And Benefits
  • Provide advice on pay and benefits
  • Support the administration of compensation and benefits programs
  • Report changes for payroll (monthly) to the HR/Payroll Coordinator via our payroll software
  • Calculate employee entitlements (such as annual leave, sickness days, parental leave etc.)
  • HR Systems and Data
  • Maintain and update our HR Information System (HRIS) (BambooHR)
  • Maintain accurate employee records
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Regularly audit our HRIS to ensure accuracy and compliance with GDPR
  • General HR Support
  • Provide advice on a range of HR issues
  • Contribute to the development of HR best practices
  • Support organisational change initiatives
  • Assist with the development and delivery of any training/development programmes
  • Support HR projects and initiatives aligned with the organisations strategy
  • Assist Head of HR with promoting EDI and employee voice (surveys, management of focus groups)
  • Document our processes and best practice in the form of a HR manual
  • Provide administrative support across the HR function ( along with the HR Advisor and HR/Payroll Coordinator )

Knowledge

  • CIPD Level 5 qualification
  • Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in a similar HR advisory role (UK)
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
  • Understanding key communication methods and theories

  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office applications
