The purpose of the role is to provide a comprehensive HR service to a range of customers, including internal/external stakeholders and partners, ensuring that the service provided is focused on delivering innovative business solutions.
Attending meetings on-site and remotely, the successful candidate will also be responsible for undertaking other HR activities including investigations, planning and delivering HR training, as well as presenting at our termly HR Briefings. As a generic role across the wider People Services, undertaking job evaluation processes will also be a requirement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain an effective working relationship with HR Business Partners, the Learning and Development Team, the Health & Safety and Welfare Service and the Employee Service Centre.
- Promote a focus on quality and performance.
- Contribute to developing and delivering the HR Business Plan in line with the organisational strategy and objectives.
- Contribute to the delivery of the People Strategy.
- Proactively identify areas for improvement and development which make positive changes within the service and customers organisations /departments.
- Evaluate jobs as part of a Job Evaluation panel.
- Assist the Senior HR Advisor and/or Team Manager in the development and delivery of briefings/training and value adding services to customers.
- Account manage a range of customers, including responsibility for income generation and service delivery.
- Provide sound and professional advice and support to allocated customers. This will include practical support prior to and during hearings and investigations. Topics for advice and support will include: recruitment & selection, disciplinary, grievance, dignity at work, attendance management, capability, probation, organisational change, pay & reward, leave & allowances, TUPE, Employment Tribunals, safeguarding, changes to terms & conditions, equality & diversity and appeals for any of these procedures. Advice and support should seek to support customers in the delivery of key service specific initiatives identified within Service and Corporate Plans.
Qualifications:
- Relevant Degree or professional/management qualification.
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
- Experience of providing effective & practical HR advice.
- Experience of developing and implementing effective and practical HR policies, procedures, guidance, processes and/or toolkits for managers and employees.
- Experience in the design, development and implementation of succinct and practical HR policies, procedures, guidance and associated template documents that suit our clients needs.
- Experience of writing effective reports for management meetings and/or committees.
- Extensive experience of operating in a HR environment, as a sold service, working on multiple casework, which can often be complex requiring proactive and strategic advice and support.
- Experience of successfully working with and influencing Trade Unions and/or employee representatives.
- Good understanding of employment and case law.
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
