On behalf of The Ministry of Justice, we are looking for a HR administrator (Inside IR35) for a contract until 31st March 2027 based mostly remote within Southwest England. You will be required to go into office for meetings as and when required.

These could be Bristol, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Gloucestershire or Wiltshire.

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) priorities include improving public safety and reducing reoffending by reforming prisons, probation and youth justice, and building a justice system which makes access to justice swifter and more certain for all citizens whatever their background. Project professionals in the MoJ help to improve the government’s ability to protect the public and reduce reoffending, and to provide a more effective, transparent and responsive criminal justice system for victims and the public.

Role Profile:

To support the delivery of HR services across a large operational workforce. Working within a supportive HR team, you will provide administrative and coordination support across a range of HR activities, helping to ensure the smooth running of day-to-day HR operations.

As a HR Administrator, your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Manage and coordinate a busy HR mailbox, ensuring enquiries are responded to appropriately and within agreed timescales.
  • Provide administrative support across a range of HR activities and employee relations matters.
  • Support HR Business Partners by triaging queries and escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, letters and other HR-related documentation.
  • Collate and extract HR data and management information for leadership teams.
  • Support attendance management, grievance, disciplinary and other employee relations processes.
  • Assist with audit, assurance and compliance activities.
  • Liaise with managers and stakeholders, providing guidance and signposting on HR policies and procedures.
  • Build effective working relationships and contribute positively to team objectives.
  • Use initiative to identify risks, resolve issues and improve processes where appropriate.

Essential

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience extracting and compiling data and reports for management purposes.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong IT skills and experience with Microsoft Office.

Desirable

  • Experience working within large, complex organisations.
  • Familiarity with HR policies, procedures and best practice.
