Summary: The Housing Triage Officer role in Hillingdon involves preventing homelessness and supporting vulnerable individuals by providing housing assistance. The position requires triaging housing enquiries, conducting assessments, and delivering advice in a busy Housing Advice & Options service. The successful candidate will work directly with clients to develop personalized housing plans and maintain accurate case records while liaising with external agencies. This is a temporary full-time position with the potential for extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide frontline triage assessments and housing advice at the reception desk
- Carry out thorough assessments of housing needs and risks
- Deliver effective homelessness prevention and relief support in line with legislation
- Develop and implement Personalised Housing Plans for clients
- Maintain accurate and confidential case records in line with policy
- Liaise with external agencies including local authorities and support services
- Offer continued advice and support to those in temporary accommodation
Key Skills:
- Demonstrable experience in a similar Housing Options or Homelessness Prevention role
- Sound understanding of relevant legislation, including the Housing Act 1996 (Part VII) and Homelessness Reduction Act
- Experience in triage, homelessness enquiries, and drafting s184 decision letters
- Ability to manage a busy caseload and meet service deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
- Experience working with vulnerable individuals and delivering services under pressure
