Duties and responsibilties
- To provide specialist and comprehensive housing advice and options to members of the public and delivering the Council’s statutory homelessness functions, focussed on preventing and relieving homelessness while managing expectations.
- The post holder will assess customers’ needs and housing options, agreeing these in the form of a ‘personal housing plan’. For customers who are threatened with homelessness this will mean working to prevent homelessness or identify alternative housing options.
- The post holder will be responding to immediate homelessness situations and arranging placement in emergency accommodation.
- Where a homeless application is triggered, the post holder will make key decisions about whether the Council’s statutory duties have been discharged and issue formal decision notifications.
- Work with colleagues and other professionals to offer enhanced housing options which address the problems that are the root cause of the homelessness with a view to securing and sustaining accommodation.
