Key Responsibilities
- Designing highway improvement and active travel schemes using AutoCAD and Civils 3D
- Supporting the project management, procurement and implementation of capital programme schemes
- Preparing drawings, technical documents and design information for highways and civil engineering projects
- Contributing to the delivery of small to medium highways schemes from concept through to implementation
- Working collaboratively with internal teams, contractors, consultants and other stakeholders
- Providing engineering support to major highway schemes when required
- Ensuring designs comply with relevant highway standards, regulations and best practice
- Maintaining accurate project records and contributing to reports and technical assessments
Job Requirements
- Experience in highway design or highways and civil engineering
- Good working knowledge of highway engineering principles and design processes
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office 365
- Good working knowledge or practical experience using Civils 3D
- Understanding of active travel schemes and highway improvement projects
- Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage tasks effectively and work collaboratively within a design team
- Full Category B driving licence and access to car use
Working Arrangements
- Based at the client's Winchester offices
- Hybrid working, with three days from home or a remote office and two days in Winchester on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
- 37-hour working week
- Contract position with a planned start date of 9 November 2026
- Commitment to the specified onsite and hybrid working pattern is required
