Summary: The role of Cisco Subject Matter Expert involves leading the design, deployment, and management of complex network infrastructures, specifically utilizing Cisco technologies. The position requires deep technical expertise and collaboration across multiple teams to ensure secure and efficient network solutions. The successful candidate will also provide mentoring and maintain technical documentation while troubleshooting high-level network issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of Cisco-based network solutions (LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi)
- Troubleshoot and resolve high-level network issues
- Provide expert input on infrastructure projects and proposals
- Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and cloud teams to ensure robust and secure network designs
- Maintain detailed technical documentation
- Offer mentoring and knowledge transfer to internal teams
Key Skills:
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco routing, switching, and firewalls
- Deep understanding of protocols such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and MPLS
- Experience with Cisco ISE, ASA, Meraki, and Nexus platforms
- Solid understanding of network security best practices
- Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools
- Cisco certifications (e.g. CCNP, CCIE) preferred
- Experience working in enterprise or government environments is a plus
