Paddington Development Trust is seeking to appoint a passionate Heritage and Volunteer Manager to join our small team at one of London’s most vibrant and unusual arts and heritage venues, Grand Junction at St Mary Magdalene’s.
About Us
Grand Junction at St Mary Magdalene’s, run by Paddington Development Trust, is a highly valued Grade 1 Listed church building. Grand Junction delivers a highly diverse cultural, heritage, and community programme, for local and London-wide audiences. Since launching in 2019, Grand Junction has produced events, concerts, tours, and talks, as well as working with a wide range of external promoters and partners. Ten minutes’ walk from Paddington Station, the building is one of the finest neo-Gothic churches in the country. Grade 1 Listed, it was built in the 1870s by the great Victorian architect G.E Street, who orchestrated the very best artists and craftsmen of the day to produce a masterwork combining architecture, sculpture, stained glass, and a remarkable painted ceiling. It has been lovingly restored and a beautiful new building added alongside, designed by Dow Jones Architects, which provides a café, learning studio and visitor facilities.
The Role
Leading our heritage and volunteer programmes, you will be an instrumental member of the team. Working with volunteers and the local community to deliver an eclectic, high-quality heritage offer and an impactful volunteering experience. Your particular focus will be on the You Are Here project, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Across multiple strands, the project focuses on the use of digital outputs to explore the heritage of local community groups, alongside that of our Grade I Listed building and local area.
