Millom community hospital is seeking a flexible dedicated health care assistant to join our team working on the 9 bedded in-patient unit on a 22.5 hr permanent contract which includes internal rotation of shifts. Shift times are 07:00-15:00, 15:00- 20:00, 12:00-20:00 and 19:30-07:30 The shifts will include weekends. The successful candidate should poses experience in working in a health care setting and be able to provide all care needs to patients with a variety of health conditions. As part of the role of the health care assistant there is an expectation that the successful candidate will support and report to the qualified nurse in charge of the shift and carry out her requests to achieve a high standard of care to all patients in our care. The role of the health care will involve delivering a high standard of patient care including assistance with activities of daily living, completing documentation in line with trust policies and using the trust IT systems. Training and support can be given to build on the candidates experience using the trust TMS training system. To support and report to the nurse in charge. To provide basic nursing care to in-patients with a variety of health conditions. To act accordingly in an emergency. To keep up to date with mandatory training To ensure the ward is clean and tidy and well stocked. To use the IT systems to maintain a high standard of documentation. We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
