Summary: The Head of Strategic PMO will lead the establishment and management of the Software PMO Centre of Excellence within a Higher Education organization, focusing on digital transformation and continuous improvement of project management functions. This role is a 6-month Fixed Term Contract with potential for extension or permanent placement. The successful candidate will ensure effective deployment of strategic portfolio management processes to support the University's objectives.
Key Responsibilities:

Head of Strategic PMO - Hybrid/West Yorkshire - £58k-£60k p.a.
This is an urgent, initial 6-month Fixed Term Contract with a strong possibility of an extension or a permanent opportunity. Successful candidate will be paid on a monthly salary basis.
You will take the lead in establishing, managing, and continuously improving the Software PMO CoE as Head of the Strategic Portfolio Management Office, ensuring the adoption of best practices in portfolio, programme, and project management (PPM) across a Higher Education organisation.
Main focus will be leading a digital transformation portfolio, as well as continual improvement of the PPM functions and services provided by the CoE.
You will ensure the University's Strategic Portfolio Management Office processes, and controls are effectively deployed to support the successful delivery of the University's strategic programmes.
To apply you should have skills and experience across the following
- Previous experience of establishing and leading a Software PMO Centre of Excellence
- Solid Portfolio Management - Ideally demonstratable Digital Transformation portfolio experience
- Governance and Reporting of a robust portfolio governance framework and cyclical reporting regime.
- Strong Planning, Scheduling, and Resourcing
- Continuous improvement
- Strong Senior Leadership and Team Development experience
- Previous experience of working as a senior member of a Higher Education PMO function would be advantageous but not mandatory
- General Duties: GDPR compliance, H&S and wellbeing policies and procedures, advance equity and social justice, support and contribute to achieving corporate objectives, etc.
