Summary: The Head of Portfolio Management Office role involves leading an enterprise-level PMO to provide a comprehensive view of investment and change activities. The position requires driving governance, prioritization, and delivery across a complex portfolio while supporting executive decision-making with data-driven insights. This contract role is based in South Wales and offers hybrid working arrangements. The successful candidate will have significant experience in PMO leadership and governance frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the enterprise PMO, embedding consistent governance, standards and controls
  • Establish and evolve the end to end portfolio framework, including prioritisation, sequencing, assurance, reporting and benefits tracking
  • Provide a clear, consolidated view of portfolio performance, risks, dependencies and delivery confidence
  • Drive continuous improvement across PMO processes, tooling and reporting
  • Support Executive and Board stakeholders with insight on affordability, capacity, risk and investment trade offs
  • Lead portfolio prioritisation and re-prioritisation in line with strategic objectives and emerging risks
  • Oversee assurance activity, ensuring robust challenge and appropriate escalation
  • Work cross-functionally to manage dependencies and mitigate delivery risks
  • Build and lead a high performing PMO team

Key Skills:

  • Experience operating at an enterprise level, leading portfolio/programme or central PMO functions
  • Proven track record of setting up or transforming a Portfolio/Enterprise PMO from the ground up
  • Strong experience implementing governance frameworks across large, complex portfolios
  • Experience managing both capital and change portfolios
  • Regular interaction with C-suite stakeholders, with the ability to influence at Executive and Board level
  • Comfortable operating in environments with direct exposure to Board-level forums and decision making

Salary (Rate): £650 daily

Head of Portfolio Management Office Contract - Paying between £500 to £650 Per Day, Outside IR35, Based in South Wales, Hybrid Working (2 or 3 days per week in office), To Start ASAP

An opportunity for an experienced PMO leader to take ownership of a central, enterprise-level Portfolio Management Office, providing a single, integrated view of investment and change activity.
