  • Supporting large-scale projects, including integration of acquired businesses and standardisation of Ts&Cs.
  • Navigating a unionised environment with a pragmatic approach.
  • Travelling approximately 40% of the time between sites.

Head of HR

Location: Cheshire Head Office, with national travel

Salary: Up to £75,000 + car allowance + benefits

Contract: Fixed term until September 2026

This is a well established business with significant heritage and legacy. Currently positioning themselves for growth, there are a number of ongoing change projects across the business to ensure this growth is sustainable and effective.

The Role

Reporting to the HR Director and partnering Operational stakeholders at Director level, this is a key role in supporting the business leadership as they navigate this change. You’ll be:

  • Leading, coaching, and developing a team of HR Business Partners and ER specialists who provide hands-on support to line managers across the business
  • Building capability and confidence within the leadership population enabling them to lead and develop their teams
  • Supporting large-scale projects, including the integration of acquired businesses and standardisation of Ts&Cs across all UK locations
  • Navigating a unionised environment, where your awareness and pragmatic approach will be key
  • Spending c40% of your time travelling between sites to maintain visibility and impact

About You

We’re seeking someone who combines strong operational HR expertise with the ability to see the bigger picture. You’ll be comfortable delivering implementation and change, but equally able to understand and align with the strategic roadmap. You will bring:

  • Demonstrable experience leading and developing a HR team in a complex, multi-site organisation (a strong preference for experience within heavy industry / manufacturing)
  • Experience of standardising Ts&Cs in an acquisitive environment
  • A track record of driving employee relations, policy development, and organisational change
  • Experience working in an operational / unionised environment
  • Strong influencing skills and the confidence to partner with senior leadership

Ideally, you’ll be flexible to travel to both the Cheshire Head Office, and the UK sites (c40% travel)
