Summary: The Head of HR for the Store Support Office is responsible for leading a high-performing HR Business Partnering team to drive exceptional people outcomes and foster a high-performance culture. This role involves partnering with senior leadership, shaping organizational initiatives, and ensuring effective people solutions are delivered. The position is a 12-month fixed-term contract based in Southampton, offering a competitive salary and a range of benefits. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the SSO HR Business Partnering Team to deliver business and personal performance.
- Business Partner with Board, Dofs, and leadership teams focusing on function and cross-functional partnering delivery.
- Contribute to the creation and delivery of the People Plan embedding critical organizational and cultural initiatives.
- Ensure functions have an organization design that is fit for purpose and manage headcount budgets.
- Coach and challenge leadership teams on individual and team effectiveness.
- Analyze trends and use data to track progress and support business solutions.
- Partner with centres of excellence to develop timely solutions for business performance.
- Plan and prioritize capacity to ensure balanced delivery of the plan.
- Drive and contribute to the overall B&Q People Strategy.
- Inspire and lead the team to be empowered and role model company values.

What's the job? Lead, inspire and coach a high-performing team of HR Business Partners to deliver exceptional people outcomes across our SSO functions. As a trusted partner and critical coach to our leadership teams, the Head of HR plays a pivotal role in shaping and driving a high-performance culture and one that enables our people and business to thrive. This role champions excellence by setting clear standards, leveraging data-driven insight, and fostering accountability and empowerment at every level. Working in partnership with our Centres of Excellence, the Head of HR ensures the delivery of innovative and effective people solutions that enhance capability, performance and engagement.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities
- Lead the SSO HR Business Partnering Team to deliver business and personal performance.
- Business Partner our Board, Dofs and leadership teams focussing on in function partnering delivery via the HRBPs as well as cross functional partnering.
- Contributes to the creation and responsible for the delivery of the People Plan ensuring that it effectively embeds critical organisational and cultural initiatives for the function.
- Ensure that all functions have an organisation design that is fit for purpose and the appropriate plan to deliver change where required as well as plans to manage headcount budgets annually.
- Coach and challenge leadership teams on individual and team effectiveness to create a high performing and inclusive culture.
- Analyse trends and use data and metrics to understand the business and track progress vs the plan as well as support business solutions.
- Partner with centres of excellence within the people team to develop the right solution at the right time to support business performance.
- Plan and prioritise capacity of self and team to ensure a balanced approach to delivery of the plan.
- Actively drive and contribute to the overall B&Q People Strategy being the voice of SSO, flagging issues and being part of creating solutions.
