Summary: The Head of HDRC role is a strategic leadership position focused on driving research initiatives to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities within Surrey. This 2-year fixed-term contract involves overseeing the Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) program, ensuring effective management and delivery of its objectives. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including local authorities and academic partners, to foster a culture of evidence-based decision-making. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing flexibility in work location while maintaining a strong presence in the office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide overall leadership and effective management of the HDRC program.
- Ensure the development and successful delivery of the program's vision, aims, and objectives.
- Oversee the development and delivery of all workstreams in line with strategic objectives.
- Collaborate with the Surrey HDRC Oversight Group and corporate Council leads to develop key policies and strategies.
- Manage research, evaluation, program management, and public involvement.
- Collaborate with the University of Surrey and other partners to shape a research ecosystem.
- Manage the HDRC budget and partnership agreements.
- Accountable for delivering program milestones within the allocated budget.
Key Skills:
- PhD qualification or equivalent relevant research experience.
- Specialist knowledge and experience of research methods.
- Understanding of the determinants of health and health inequalities.
- Ability to appreciate the role of research in health and social care service delivery.
- Experience in developing and managing programs and projects.
- Track record of delivering high-quality programs on time and within budget.
- Ability to formulate and implement strategic plans successfully.
