Summary: The Head of Financial Services at Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is a senior finance leadership role responsible for overseeing comprehensive financial accounting operations. This position requires a fully CCAB qualified individual with significant experience in financial management, tasked with ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and enhancing service delivery across both organizations. The role involves leading a team, managing financial governance, and implementing innovative solutions to improve financial processes. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the strategic financial leadership of the NHS trusts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation of statutory annual accounts and manage audit and counter-fraud liaison.
  • Lead a team covering Financial Accounts, Financial Systems Accounting, Cashiers, and Overseas Visitors Officers.
  • Establish robust systems and procedures for Financial Services to ensure efficiency and integrity.
  • Provide high-quality financial information and advice to support managers and the Board.
  • Manage financial governance and maintain effective internal controls over accounting functions.
  • Lead on statutory financial duties, including capital management and cash management.
  • Develop and maintain the Financial Corporate Governance Framework and provide training to staff.
  • Manage the financial ledger systems, particularly Oracle, and oversee the Charitable Funds Strategy.
  • Coordinate with auditors for Internal and External Audit processes.
  • Support the management of the Audit Committee and Finance Committee.
