Summary: The Head of Finance will report directly to the CEO and is responsible for overseeing the entire finance function of a rapidly expanding organization based in East Manchester. This pivotal leadership role involves strategic financial planning, compliance, and performance management, both domestically and internationally. The successful candidate will provide financial insights to shape company strategy and drive growth while managing a finance team. This position is offered as a 6-month contract with the potential for a permanent role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation, review, and presentation of monthly management accounts, including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow forecasts.
  • Present financial results and performance updates to the Board of Directors and interpret key trends for informed decision-making.
  • Develop and implement long-term financial strategies in partnership with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Act as the principal liaison for all financial matters with the Parent company, HMRC, banks, auditors, and other stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain robust financial controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
  • Lead all aspects of budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
  • Support M&A activities, funding discussions, and provide financial insights to support strategic growth opportunities.
  • Drive continuous improvement across the finance function through system optimisation and digital transformation in collaboration with IT.
  • Manage, mentor, and coach the Accounts Manager and wider finance team, promoting professional development and fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Provide financial training across the organisation to enhance commercial awareness and empower non-financial managers.
  • Ensure full compliance with all relevant financial, tax, and regulatory legislation, including international reporting requirements.
  • Uphold the company’s values, acting as a trusted business partner and ambassador for ethical leadership and operational integrity.

Key Skills:

  • Professional qualification: CIMA, ACCA, or ACA.
  • Proven experience in a senior finance or head-of-function role within a complex or international environment.
  • Deep understanding of cash flow management, budgeting, and financial planning.
  • Demonstrable experience in strategic business partnering and providing financial insights that drive results.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), SAP Business One, T100, and NaturalHR.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and presentation skills, with the confidence to influence at all levels.
