Summary: The Interim Head of Enterprise Technical Services is a senior, Director-level position responsible for leading enterprise IT and OT services within a leading utilities organization during a transitional period. This hands-on role requires accountability for operational stability and service continuity across a complex technology estate, particularly during major incidents. The successful candidate will manage senior leaders and ensure a smooth transition to a permanent hire. This position is hybrid, based in Reading or Havant, and classified as inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the day-to-day operation and resilience of enterprise technology services, including:
- Cloud platforms
- Infrastructure & datacentres
- Networks & connectivity
- End User Services
- IT/OT integration
- Act as senior operational authority during major incidents
- Lead and manage senior Heads of Function across Cloud, Platforms, and End User Services
- Oversee a multi-supplier/SIAM operating model, ensuring performance and accountability
- Manage operational risk, service performance, and regulatory compliance
- Work closely with senior stakeholders across Technology, Security, Commercial, and Finance
- Ensure a smooth and structured transition to a permanent hire
Key Skills:
- Proven experience operating at Director or Head-of level in enterprise environments
- Strong background in IT operations, infrastructure, and cloud services
- Experience in regulated, safety-critical, or high-availability environments (eg utilities, energy, telco)
- Track record of leading large-scale technical teams and senior leaders
- Experience owning major incidents and high-risk operational decisions
- Strong supplier and service management experience (multi-vendor environments)
- A hands-on, accountable leadership style
- Experience in utilities or Critical National Infrastructure (CNI)
- Exposure to IT/OT convergence
- Experience working within SIAM or complex supplier ecosystems
- Prior interim leadership assignments

We're supporting a leading utilities organisation in the search for an Interim Head of Enterprise Technical Services to provide critical leadership during a period of transition.
