Head of Data Science & AI

Summary: The Head of Data Science and AI will lead initiatives to enhance data efficiency and automation within the organization, focusing on delivering customer benefits through strategic use of data science and AI. This role involves managing a team of data scientists, setting objectives, and overseeing project delivery while ensuring adherence to AI governance and ethical practices. The position requires active and transferrable SC Clearance or eligibility for clearance. The contract is for 12 months and involves a hybrid working arrangement with three days on-site in Somerset.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive data efficiency and embrace automation to improve performance and introduce new capabilities.
• Strategize the use of data science and AI automation to deliver efficiency and customer benefits.
• Lead a team of data scientists, building capability and skills, setting objectives, and supporting project delivery.
• Provide leadership on AI governance and the use of AI applications.
• Oversee the procurement of third-party products related to AI and data science.

Key Skills:

• Expert in data science and machine learning techniques, including supervised, unsupervised, and deep learning.
• Expert knowledge of exploratory data analysis and statistical analysis of large datasets.
• Solid experience in machine learning operations and A/B testing of models.
• Expert knowledge of responsible and ethical AI practices.
• Proficient in programming languages such as Python, R, and C++.
• Experience in innovating and solving business problems through data science or machine learning.
• Experience in measuring the benefits of data science solutions and roadmapping improvements.
• Experience in leading projects and teams.
