Summary: The Head of Cyber Security Operations for the Cabinet Office is responsible for leading the operational cyber security capabilities, ensuring effective detection, investigation, and response to cyber threats. This role involves strategic direction, collaboration with senior stakeholders, and management of a high-performing team. The position requires active SC Clearance and entails a hybrid working arrangement, with responsibilities spread across London, Bristol, or Glasgow. The role is critical in safeguarding the Cabinet Office's digital infrastructure and services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Cabinet Office's cyber security operations function, providing strategic direction and coordinating day-to-day delivery of security capabilities.
- Work closely with the Deputy Director of Cyber and Information Security to design and implement the department's cyber security strategy.
- Deputise for the Deputy Director as required, attending senior leadership and programme boards.
- Manage the technical response to major cyber security incidents and vulnerabilities.
- Identify and deliver opportunities for continual improvement of the security operations function.
- Brief senior stakeholders on cyber security threats, vulnerabilities, incidents, and mitigations.
- Collaborate with other cyber and information security functions to enhance overall capabilities.
- Ensure an end-to-end approach to cyber security across the Cabinet Office.
- Work with external authorities for knowledge sharing and collaboration.
- Lead and manage senior and lead analysts within the team.

- Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to analyze complex issues.
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent are desirable.
- Understanding of new and emerging digital technologies and their security implications.
