Summary: The Cabinet Office is seeking a Head of Cyber Security Operations for a 7-month hybrid contract, requiring SC Clearance. This role involves leading the operational cyber security capabilities of the Cabinet Office, ensuring effective detection and response to cyber threats. The position requires collaboration with senior stakeholders and the management of a high-performing team to enhance the department's cyber security strategy. The role is based in London, Bristol, or Glasgow, with a requirement to work on-site two days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Cabinet Office’s cyber security operations function, providing strategic direction and coordinating daily delivery of threat intelligence, detection, incident response, and vulnerability management.
  • Work closely with the Deputy Director of Cyber and Information Security to design and implement the department’s cyber security strategy.
  • Deputise for the Deputy Director as required, attending senior leadership and programme boards.
  • Identify and deliver opportunities for continual improvement of the security operations function.
  • Brief senior stakeholders on cyber security threats, vulnerabilities, incidents, and mitigations.
  • Collaborate with other cyber and information security functions to improve overall capabilities.
  • Engage with Government Security Group and National Technical Authorities for knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  • Lead and manage senior and lead analysts within the team.

Key Skills:

  • Active SC Clearance.
  • Experience leading an operational cyber security function.
  • Ability to build and manage high-performing teams.
  • Experience in operational and strategic planning.
  • Strong operational process implementation skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of cyber threats and mitigations.
  • Excellent communication skills for conveying complex issues to senior stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to analyze complex issues.
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP or CISM are desirable.
