Head of Communications and Content - 3-4 month contract

This leadership role is responsible for developing and delivering an integrated communications strategy across digital, content, media and PR channels, helping to raise awareness, strengthen reputation, and drive engagement, fundraising and service impact.

The postholder will lead a communications team, oversee external messaging and digital performance, and ensure a consistent, compelling brand voice across all audiences.

This is a healthcare charity, based in North West London (near southern Hertfordshire).

Description

  • Lead the development and delivery of an integrated communications and content strategy that supports organisational growth, engagement and public profile.
  • Oversee digital communications channels, including website, social media and email marketing, to improve audience engagement and conversion.
  • Manage media relations, PR activity and reputation management, building strong relationships with journalists and external stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain high-quality, audience-focused content across multiple platforms, ensuring consistent messaging and brand alignment.
  • Use data, analytics and audience insight to measure performance, optimise campaigns and drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead and develop a communications team, fostering collaboration across departments and managing external agencies and suppliers.

Profile

  • Significant senior-level communications experience, with a strong track record of leading integrated communications, digital engagement and content strategies.
  • Experienced in managing media relations, securing positive coverage and protecting organisational reputation during sensitive issues.
  • An excellent writer and storyteller, able to create compelling content and tailor messages to different audiences and channels.
  • Data-driven and digitally savvy, with expertise in using insights, analytics and emerging technologies, including AI tools, to improve performance and engagement.
  • An inspiring and collaborative leader who can develop high-performing teams, build strong stakeholder relationships and work effectively across functions.
  • Organised, resilient and proactive, with a values-led approach and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment.

Job Offer

  • Day rate - equivalent of £60-£70k per annum.
  • 3 days onsite - North West London (near southern Hertfordshire).
  • Free parking onsite
  • 3-4 month contract.
