Summary: The Head of Accounting Technology is a senior leadership role within a leading international financial services group, responsible for managing a diverse team of technologists supporting Accounting and General Ledger systems. This position involves overseeing enterprise-wide ERP and financial reporting software delivery, while managing both change and business-as-usual activities. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of functional accounting knowledge and technical leadership experience in financial systems. The role requires strong stakeholder engagement and service continuity management across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a multi-location team responsible for Accounting & General Ledger technology services.
  • Oversee support and transformation of financial platforms (including ERP, subledgers, and reporting).
  • Serve as the key interface between Finance and Technology for accounting-related system delivery.
  • Manage change delivery, stakeholder engagement, and service continuity across the enterprise.

Key Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of accounting principles (double-entry, trial balance, GL, month-end, adjustments, P&L, etc.).
  • Expertise in enterprise-level General Ledger systems (e.g. multi-GAAP, FX management, intercompany accounting, consolidations).
  • Understanding of financial subledgers, procure-to-pay workflows, asset/project accounting, and revenue recognition.
  • Experience with financial product accounting (loans, capital markets instruments, etc.).
  • Proven delivery and support experience with Oracle Fusion Financials / Oracle e-Business Suite, MS SQL Server, SSRS, PL/SQL, Informatica, ETL, integration tools, Control-M, middleware (BPEL, SOA), Windows/Linux, XML messaging, IBM MQ, ServiceNow, JIRA.
  • Strong grasp of system architecture and integration, cloud-based technologies, and SaaS/PaaS/IaaS.
  • Familiarity with development methodologies: Agile, Waterfall, UML, RAD.
  • Proven ability to manage geographically distributed teams (onshore/offshore).
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management across technical and finance teams.
