Summary: The Graph Database Engineer will design, implement, and optimize graph-based data models and analytics for a public sector program. This role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to support decision-making and intelligence operations. The position is a 6-month initial contract, hybrid working two days a week in London, with a pay rate of up to £700 per day inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop scalable and efficient graph database solutions using technologies such as Neo4j
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and engineers to build complex data pipelines and relationships across disparate data sources
- Implement graph algorithms to uncover patterns, detect anomalies, and enable entity resolution
- Translate real-world systems and entities into graph structures for querying and visualisation
- Optimise query performance and ensure data integrity and security compliance in accordance with government standards
- Support ingestion of structured and unstructured data into graph databases
- Develop and maintain documentation for graph schemas, workflows, and system configurations
Key Skills:
- 3+ years of experience working with Neo4j
- Proficiency with Cypher
- Experience with ETL processes, data modeling, and data integration pipelines
- Familiarity with data governance and security practices in a public sector or regulated environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Eligible for government security clearance
- Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and data services
- Experience in Fraud or Financial Crime projects
- Familiarity with linked data, RDF, or semantic web technologies
- Experience with visualisation tools like Neo4j Bloom
