Google Cloud Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for a Google Cloud Engineer with a focus on cloud networking and infrastructure automation to help design, build and maintain a provisioning platform for enterprise-scale networking services.

Working within an Agile engineering team, you will develop and support automated solutions for provisioning and managing VPCs, subnets, routing, network policies and private connectivity. The role involves hands-on development, system design and operational support, with a strong focus on security, scalability and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain cloud networking services and automated infrastructure provisioning solutions.
• Develop, review and maintain production code using Go, Python or other relevant programming languages.
• Contribute to system design and architecture, ensuring solutions meet security, scalability and operational requirements.
• Build and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
• Develop and improve automation, CI/CD pipelines and testing processes.
• Support Kubernetes environments and cloud-native platform services.
• Monitor platform performance, troubleshoot production issues and contribute to incident management and root-cause analysis.
• Work closely with engineering teams to improve code quality, observability and infrastructure reliability.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or AWS/Azure with a willingness to specialise in GCP.
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Programming experience with Go and/or Python.
• Strong knowledge of Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation and infrastructure testing.
• Understanding of cloud architecture, security, monitoring and operational best practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience working within Agile engineering teams.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with cloud networking, including VPCs, subnets, routing, IPAM, load balancing, DNS and private connectivity.
• Experience developing or maintaining automated cloud infrastructure provisioning platforms.
• Previous experience within financial services, banking or another highly regulated environment.
• Understanding of security controls, compliance and audit requirements within enterprise cloud environments.
