Summary: The Global Payroll Officer at Midnite is responsible for managing payroll operations across the UK and South Africa, ensuring accuracy and reliability as the company scales internationally. This role involves end-to-end payroll delivery, system implementation, and process improvement, requiring a proactive and detail-oriented individual. The position offers a hybrid working arrangement with a strong preference for candidates based in London. The ideal candidate will have solid UK payroll experience and a strong understanding of compliance and payroll systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end UK payroll delivery using PayFit
  • Support and manage South Africa payroll processes across a separate system
  • Evaluate, select, and implement a future global payroll solution, owning the project end-to-end from requirements through to rollout
  • Manage contractor and EOR payroll operations via Deel
  • Handle payroll onboarding, off boarding, and employee lifecycle changes
  • Process payroll amendments accurately and within tight monthly deadlines
  • Respond to payroll-related queries from employees and internal stakeholders
  • Support payroll reconciliations, journals, and reporting activities
  • Assist with benefits-related payroll administration, including pensions and changes
  • Support P11D and PSA reporting processes
  • Improve payroll documentation, controls, and process efficiency as the business scales

Key Skills:

  • Solid UK payroll experience with end-to-end ownership
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll processes and HMRC compliance
  • Comfortable working with payroll systems (ideally PayFit or similar)
  • Experience processing invoices and completing basic accounts payable tasks
  • Experience working with contractor or multi-jurisdiction payroll (e.g. Deel exposure is a plus)
  • Strong Excel skills and confident handling payroll data and reconciliations
  • High attention to detail and takes pride in accuracy
  • Takes ownership and can operate independently without close supervision
  • Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable improving processes in a fast-moving environment

The Role

You will:
