Summary: The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the construction phase of a major infrastructure project, providing technical guidance and ensuring design intent is implemented correctly on-site. The position requires regular presence at site offices located around Coleshill and Kenilworth, working closely with a small team and junior staff. Responsibilities include managing site queries, conducting geological inspections, and contributing to geotechnical feedback reports. The role is offered on a 6-month initial contract basis with a competitive pay rate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Geotechnical construction phase support, coordinating with technical leads and supporting junior staff.
- Review Inspection and Test Plans, witness selected site tests, and maintain clear, auditable records.
- Manage responses to site queries, field change requests, and non-conformance reports, including internal assurance steps.
- Interpret instrumentation and monitoring data and recommend mitigation actions when needed.
- Carry out geological inspections, earthworks logging, and other site-based geotechnical assessments.
- Contribute to concise geotechnical feedback reports and help junior engineers develop their technical skills.
- Find practical solutions to site-based design or construction issues.
- Collaborate with site teams and designers.
