Summary: The General Ledger Accountant role is an interim position within the finance team, focusing on maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and ensuring accurate month-end close processes. The candidate will be responsible for account reconciliation, financial reporting support, and compliance with internal controls. This position requires a detail-oriented and analytical individual with relevant accounting experience. The role is hybrid, based in Nottingham.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Assist in preparing financial statements.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate cost allocations and entries.
- Assist in audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Analyse financial data and trends to support decision-making.
- Maintain fixed asset register and depreciation schedules (if applicable).
- Support process improvements and automation initiatives in the accounting function.
Key Skills:
- QBE or Part Qualified.
- 2-5 years of experience in general ledger accounting or a similar role.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Experience with accounting software.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
