Summary: The GE PowerOn Advantage Solution Consultant role involves supporting the delivery and integration of the OMS solution within power utilities, requiring UK Security Clearance. The consultant will leverage their expertise in PowerOn Advantage and SCADA architecture to ensure effective deployment and integration with various systems. Responsibilities include customer interaction, system testing, and providing guidance on solution architecture. The position is based in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Reading, or Portsmouth, with a focus on delivering complex solutions in a multi-vendor environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Power Utilities SCADA Architecture deployment experience
  • PoA integrations
  • System Testing of PoA functionalities
  • Good experience in PowerOn Advantage application and deployment of various components
  • Detailed understanding of PoA architecture and its components
  • Deployment of at least 2-3 POA systems in Power Utilities
  • Experience integrating PoA with OT applications like GIS, WFM, PI, Historian, and other corporate application systems
  • Customer interactions and working in multi-vendor environments
  • Arrange end-to-end solution for the deployment of the product from planning & engineering functions
  • Securing a smooth hand-over of the solution/resource to Operations
  • Providing guidance in defining solution architecture considering integration of PoA with external systems
  • Expertise in developing test plans/cases, acceptance, and transition
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with current standards and regulations governing power systems

Key Skills:

  • Network configuration of SCADA, DMS, OMS in PoA
  • Experience of system integration and working on multi-discipline projects
  • PowerOn Advantage application and component expertise
  • Scripting knowledge: PL/SQL, Shell, PFL, Perl
  • Configuration of SCADA, DMS, OMS in PoA
  • Experience with modules like Group Tele Control, Automation, system tracing, Symbol Design, Alarm Configurations, etc.
  • Configuration and setup of SOAP services and interfaces
  • Setup of PoA Application and Database server, Reports server, FEP server, Historian database, DPF application server, Proxy Server
  • Reports development using Microsoft SQL Server Report Builder & deploying to SQL Server Reporting Services
  • Server replication and testing (Application, Reports, and Proxy Servers)
  • Knowledge of PoA cartography for network build
  • Strong understanding of Windows and Linux servers
  • Familiarity with IT/OT and security standards (e.g., NERC CIP)
  • Use of utility experience to engage with clients on Electric Distribution Operational systems
  • Good understanding of electric utility distribution planning, engineering, and operations
  • Apply specialized utility system design and planning knowledge to produce complex solutions
  • Assess clients’ effectiveness in adapting to new OT applications for DERMS/DRMS/ADMS/OMS/SCADA
  • Apply recognized methodologies to address client needs
  • Anticipate and resolve technical problems with occasional technical assistance from others
