Summary: The Lead Cloud Platform Architect for Google Cloud Platform (GCP) will play a pivotal role in a global banking and financial services organization, focusing on the implementation and delivery of GCP to enhance business capabilities. This position requires extensive knowledge of GCP and its services, along with the ability to lead and influence stakeholders effectively. The role involves working within a central team and reporting to the Principal Cloud Platform Architect. The contract offers hybrid working arrangements with a focus on long-term engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the enablement of GCP across the business.
- Shape and deliver core platform foundations supporting GCP adoption.
- Provide leadership and direction on high-level implementation and delivery of the platform.
- Extract requirements and make sound, motivated recommendations.
- Guide transitions from on-premises environments to GCP.
- Deliver significant, sustainable change to improve business effectiveness.
Key Skills:
- Extensive, in-depth practical knowledge of GCP.
- Experience with GCP IaaS, PaaS, governance, compliance, security services, and IAM.
- Architecture practitioner experience in a large-scale organization.
- Strong understanding of GCP networking principles.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Background in engineering (software, infrastructure, or data).
- Cross-cloud exposure (AWS, Azure, or AliCloud) is a plus.
- Experience in regulated financial services environments is desirable.

Lead Cloud Platform Architect – Google Cloud Platform (GCP) We’re working with a global banking and financial services organisation operating a Cloud First strategy across both public and private cloud to accelerate their business capabilities. They are looking for an experienced Lead Cloud Platform Architect to drive the enablement of GCP across the business. This will involve shaping and delivering the core platform foundations that support GCP adoption across the organisation. Reporting to the Principal Cloud Platform Architect, you’ll sit within a central team providing leadership and direction on the high-level implementation and delivery of the platform.
Requirements:
- Extensive, long-standing, in-depth practical knowledge of GCP
- GCP IaaS, PaaS, governance, compliance, security services and IAM
- Architecture practitioner experience in a large-scale organisation, with the ability to extract requirements and make sound, motivated recommendations
- Strong understanding of GCP networking principles, with the ability to guide those transitioning from on-premises environments
- Track record of delivering significant, sustainable change that improves business effectiveness
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with proven ability to influence, negotiate and win over diverse stakeholders
- Background in engineering, whether software, infrastructure or data
Nice to Have:
- Cross-cloud exposure across AWS, Azure or AliCloud
- Experience within regulated financial services environments
- Understanding of material outsourcing and regulatory engagement
Contract: Hybrid and flexible working, with 2–3 days per month on-site Outside IR35 Longer-term contract, likely 1 year+
