Summary: The GCP Data Engineer role involves delivering high-impact data solutions as part of an enterprise cloud transformation program for a leading investment bank. The position requires designing and implementing scalable data pipelines and cloud-native solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The successful candidate will work within a top-tier data engineering team and contribute to the development of robust data ingestion and transformation processes. This is a 6-month contract position with a hybrid working arrangement based in London.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable Back End systems and APIs.
- Develop robust data ingestion pipelines to GCP from diverse sources.
- Implement data transformation processes for quality and consistency.
- Build and maintain data models, schemas, and data lakes (BigQuery).
- Integrate data across cloud and on-prem systems using tools like Cloud Composer.
Key Skills:
- 8+ years in data engineering with a strong GCP focus.
- Hands-on experience with BigQuery, DataProc, DataFlow, Cloud SQL.
- Proficient in GCP services: GKE, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Compute Engine.
- Strong skills in Terraform (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and cloud networking.
- Background in big data analytics and data lake architecture.
- GCP certification (eg, Professional Cloud Developer or Data Engineer).
- Experience in financial services or highly regulated environments.
