Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Fund Accounting Business Analyst with a focus on ETFs to help drive the design, implementation, and optimisation of fund accounting processes and systems specifically for Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs). The successful candidate will play a key role in bridging the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure that fund accounting systems and processes are aligned with ETF requirements. This role involves gathering business requirements, analysing fund accounting workflows, and helping implement solutions that support ETF products in a dynamic and complex financial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering:
Work closely with business stakeholders (including portfolio managers, operations teams, and senior leadership) to gather and document business requirements specific to ETF fund accounting.
Analyse and document ETF accounting processes, including NAV calculations, fund valuations, income distribution, trade settlement, and reconciliation.
Translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements for IT and development teams to implement effective fund accounting systems.
2. Fund Accounting Process Optimisation:
Evaluate current ETF fund accounting workflows to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for automation.
Recommend process improvements to streamline operations, reduce risks, and enhance the accuracy and timeliness of ETF fund valuations and reporting.
Work with cross-functional teams to implement changes and improvements in ETF accounting processes, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
3. System Design & Implementation Support:
Collaborate with technical teams (developers, IT, and system architects) to design, enhance, and implement fund accounting systems that support ETFs.
Assist in defining system specifications, creating user stories, and performing system testing to ensure that fund accounting solutions meet the needs of ETF products.
Help guide the integration of fund accounting systems with other platforms such as trading, portfolio management, and risk systems.
4. ETF Reporting & Compliance:
Ensure that fund accounting systems are configured to produce accurate and timely ETF reporting, including daily NAV calculations, investor reports, financial statements, and regulatory filings.
Collaborate with compliance and regulatory teams to ensure that ETF accounting processes comply with relevant financial regulations (eg, MiFID II, SEC, UCITS).
Support the development and implementation of new reporting standards or requirements specific to ETFs.
5. Stakeholder Management & Communication:
Act as the primary point of contact between the business and technical teams for ETF fund accounting-related projects and issues.
Clearly communicate project progress, risks, and issues to key stakeholders, providing regular updates on timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
Coordinate and facilitate meetings, workshops, and training sessions for internal teams to ensure understanding of new systems and processes.
6. Testing & Quality Assurance:
Develop test plans and scenarios to validate fund accounting systems for ETFs, ensuring that calculations, reporting, and other key processes are accurate.
Lead or assist in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure that system enhancements or new implementations meet the business requirements and function as expected.
Track and resolve defects and issues identified during testing, ensuring timely resolution before go-live.
7. Documentation & Training:
Document all business requirements, system configurations, process changes, and project details in comprehensive reports and manuals.
Provide training and support to internal teams on new systems or processes related to ETF fund accounting.
Ensure that training materials are clear, up-to-date, and accessible to all relevant stakeholders.
8. Continuous Improvement:
Stay up to date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in ETF accounting and financial technology.
Recommend and implement ongoing improvements to fund accounting processes and systems to ensure that the organisation stays competitive and compliant.
