Summary: The role of Fund Accountant involves providing accounting and taxation services for Collective Investment Schemes within the UK Fund Service department. Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage the delivery of year end and interim financial statements for UK Funds.
  • Collate information on stocks and global markets for daily Fair Value Pricing Group meetings.
  • Calculate key data points for UK funds, including distribution rates, yields, ongoing charges, and amortisation profiles.
  • Conduct detailed monthly reviews of funds’ data, including income recorded and outstanding debtor and creditor positions.
  • Prepare income forecasts for UK Funds.
  • Complete annual tax returns.
  • Investigate exceptions in month end reconciliations for client reporting.
  • Assist in the system set-up of new funds and opening new custody accounts.
  • Provide ad hoc assistance on projects within the department.
  • Develop and maintain technical knowledge relating to UK Funds and industry updates.
  • Adhere to Baillie Gifford Data Management/Security policies.

Key Skills:

  • Professional accounting qualification (CA, ACA, ACCA) or exam qualified.

Purpose of Role

To provide accounting and taxation services to the Collective Investment Schemes within the UK Fund Service department.

Responsibilities

We are recruiting an accountant for our UK Fund Accounting team. The team is responsible for daily pricing and financial reporting for our UK open-ended funds, and we interact with the wider business on a range of operational developments requiring technical expertise. We hold ourselves to the highest standard of client service and value-add in all we do. The role for which we are recruiting has broad responsibilities at each stage of our funds’ accounting cycles. You will be preparing and managing the delivery of the funds’ accounts, with reporting dates falling throughout the year, as well as providing input on daily Fair Value Pricing decisions, client reporting and calculating key regulatory data points for the funds.

Responsibilities :

  • Prepare and manage the delivery of year end and interim financial statements for our UK Funds, which have various period end dates across the calendar year
  • Collate information on stocks and global markets for daily Fair Value Pricing Group meetings
  • Calculate key data points for our UK funds, including, but not limited to, distribution rates, yields, ongoing charges, and amortisation profiles
  • Conduct detailed monthly reviews of our funds’ data, including income recorded, withholding taxes charged and outstanding debtor and creditor positions
  • Prepare income forecasts for our UK Funds
  • Complete annual tax returns
  • Investigate exceptions in month end reconciliations for client reporting
  • Assist in the system set-up of new funds and opening new custody accounts, working closely with various internal departments
  • Provide ad hoc assistance on projects within the department
  • Develop and maintain technical knowledge relating to UK Funds including changes to Baillie Gifford funds and wider industry updates
