Summary: Grafton Banks Finance is seeking a hands-on Financial Controller/Head of Finance/Finance Director for a temporary role in an established SME in Brighton. The position involves leading a small finance team, managing month-end reporting, year-end accounts, and payroll, with the potential for a permanent role. The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic, qualified, and ready to engage in detailed financial operations. Immediate availability is required, with a focus on operational finance and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and deliver on year-end accounts, annual budgets, quarterly budgets, and forecasting.
• Manage payroll (outsourced), set KPIs, ensure tax and VAT compliance.
• Oversee income recognition, manage accrued and deferred income, utilisation reporting, profit management, and pensions management.
• Manage monthly cash flow, major expenditures, supplier management, and income tracking.

Key Skills:

• Qualified Accountant with 3 years post-qualified experience.
• Experience working in an SME environment.
• Hands-on approach to producing monthly management accounts and payroll review.
• High-level skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Xero.
• Ideally have time-based costing experience.
• Local to Brighton, able to be in the office 3 days per week.

Salary (Rate): £90,000
