Summary: This role is for a Security Cleared Front End Developer tasked with delivering essential front end development services for a prominent Defence client. The position involves designing and implementing scalable solutions that support the operations of a UK front line security force. The developer will work within agile teams to create high-quality user interfaces for both mobile and web applications. The role requires active SC clearance and offers a mix of remote work with some onsite presence in Portsmouth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Designing, developing, and testing UI for mobile and web applications.
• Building reusable code and libraries for future use.
• Accurately translating user and business needs into functional frontend code.
• Working within cross-functional agile teams to deliver live services.
• Maintaining clean and organised Git repositories.
• Implementing service side rendering (SSR) using Next.js.
• Optimising frontend performance for speed and efficiency.
• Writing comprehensive automated tests (unit, integration and end-to-end) to ensure quality and prevent regressions.

Key Skills:

• Excellent frontend development experience: TypeScript, React and Vanilla CSS.
• Strong User Interface Design skills and web development experience.
• Experience with REST APIs.
• Experience with testing frameworks like Jest and Cypress (Integration testing).
• Comfortable with Docker, Jenkins, DevOps etc.
• Experience working in the Ministry of Defence (MOD) or similar secure environments.
• Proven experience of working in an agile team, building Digital Services for Government clients (GDS).
• Familiarity using Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
• Excellent consulting / stakeholder engagement skills.
• Willingness to participate in work-shopping / requirement gathering / definition side of the engagement.
