Summary: Venesky-Brown is seeking a Front-End App Developer for a public sector organization in Glasgow, offering an initial 6-month contract with a potential extension. The role involves hybrid working and focuses on developing secure web application features while collaborating with various technical teams. The position requires a strong background in modern JavaScript practices and front-end technologies, along with the ability to mentor colleagues and identify operational improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work across technical teams formed of supplier, contract, and permanent resources.
- Develop new features for web applications securely in line with industry best practices.
- Identify production and non-production design discrepancies and UI defects.
- Train and knowledge share with colleagues.
- Anticipate future opportunities or blockers and ensure team decisions align with technical direction.
- Identify operational improvements to ensure a stable service that can be enhanced.
- Mitigate against project challenges or risks.
- Collaborate with service designers, UX specialists, and other developers to translate wireframes and mockups into real interfaces.
Key Skills:
- Experience in modern JavaScript practices and industry standards regarding front-end technologies.
- Commercial experience with React, Typescript, NodeJS, Redux, HTML5, CSS3, Webpack, and React Testing Library.
- Experience with RESTful APIs.
- Experience writing unit and integration tests.
- Experience with CI/CD (e.g., Jenkins) and build/package management tools.
- Familiarity with programming best practices (i.e., Clean Code, SOLID).
- Experience with microservice design patterns.
- Able to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to mentor colleagues, including non-technical staff.
- Commercial experience in building accessible websites in line with WCAG.
- Knowledge of multiple JS frameworks (i.e., React, Angular, Vue).
- Java 8+ commercial experience is advantageous.
- Experience in designing and developing RESTful microservices.
- Working experience with MySQL compatible databases (MySQL, RDS, Aurora, MariaDB).
- Knowledge or working experience in AWS and associated tooling.
- Experience with Docker/Bash/Shell Scripting.
