Summary: The Frontend Developer role in Birmingham is a hybrid position focused on developing and maintaining web tools and websites, ensuring optimal performance and user experience. This is a maternity cover contract lasting up to 12 months, where the developer will be responsible for coding, troubleshooting, and collaborating with teams to deliver high-quality digital solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in web development and a passion for creating engaging digital experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing and maintaining digital web tools and websites.
- Working on design, layout, coding, and testing of web tools and sites.
- Diagnosing and fixing issues with online systems.
- Ensuring web tools run efficiently and suggesting improvements.
- Using JavaScript, jQuery, React/JSX, HTML5, CSS3, Sass, and Bootstrap to build digital solutions.
- Creating prototypes and mock-ups for mobile, desktop, and web apps.
- Collaborating with internal teams and external partners on projects.
- Keeping documentation up to date and contributing to software architecture decisions.
- Researching new development approaches and presenting ideas.
Key Skills:
- In-depth experience in web development.
- Experience in contract roles.
- Strong skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and .NET.
- Good working knowledge of CMSs, preferably WordPress.
- Ability to handle browser compatibility issues and create responsive designs.
- Problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage deadlines.
- Effective communication skills across all levels of the organization.
- Experience using git for source code version control.
- Relevant certification or equivalent experience.
