Summary: My client, a large consultancy, is seeking a Front End Engineer for a 6-month contract inside IR35, based in Bristol. The role requires 3 days per week on-site and offers 2 days of remote work. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in React and modern Front End testing practices, with a focus on building accessible and scalable user interfaces.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain user interfaces using React, JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Implement modern Front End testing practices and ensure compliance with Accessibility standards (WCAG).
- Write automated tests with a test-first mindset (TDD).
- Collaborate with Backend developers and work with REST APIs and PostgreSQL.
- Participate in DevOps practices across CI/CD pipelines, containers, and Kubernetes.
Key Skills:
- Strong experience in React, JavaScript/TypeScript, and JestJS.
- Proven experience in building accessible and testable user interfaces.
- Familiarity with Accessibility standards (WCAG) and tooling (axe-core).
- Experience in Backend development with Java/Quarkus is desirable.
- Exposure to DevOps practices and tools.

Primary focus on experienced Frontend Software Engineers, with strong React expertise. Proven experience building accessible, testable, scalable user interfaces. Strong test-first mindset (TDD) and confidence writing automated tests.
The ideal candidate will also, desirably have experience in Backend development with Java/Quarkus, Working with REST APIs and PostgreSQL, DevOps exposure across CI/CD pipelines, containers and Kubernetes, Although not a must-have for the role.
