Summary: We are seeking an experienced Front End Developer for a 6-month contract within a Central Government programme. The role focuses on building and enhancing secure, accessible, and performant user-facing services while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. This position requires a hybrid working arrangement with two days onsite in either London or Manchester. Candidates must have strong technical skills in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, along with experience in public sector digital services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and improve user-facing services that are secure, accessible, and performant.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including designers, Back End developers, and delivery managers.
- Deliver high-quality digital services aligned with government standards.
- Implement Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
- Develop responsive, accessible web applications.
- Work within Agile delivery teams.
- Ensure compliance with GDS Service Standards and accessibility requirements.
- Utilize design systems such as GOV.UK Design System.
Key Skills:
- Strong experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Experience working with Python or Ruby in a web development environment.
- Knowledge and practical experience implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
- Familiarity with modern development workflows (version control, CI/CD, testing practices).
- Experience delivering digital services within UK Government or Public Sector environments.
- Active SC Clearance.
