Summary: The Freelance Trims Specialist will support the Ready-to-Wear product development team of a prestigious luxury fashion brand. This role involves managing the sourcing and development of trims, ensuring alignment with design concepts and sustainability standards. The position requires collaboration with various teams and oversight of technical specifications and testing processes. It offers a dynamic and creative studio environment for a hands-on professional in the fashion industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage sourcing and development of all trims for RTW collections, including buttons, zips, tapes, labels, and hardware.
- Work closely with design and development teams to ensure trims align with seasonal concepts, functional requirements, and sustainability standards.
- Oversee accurate print and colour matching of trims to seasonal fabrics, ensuring seamless integration with the final garment.
- Coordinate with suppliers on lead times, pricing, compliance, and technical specifications.
- Maintain trims records, libraries, and digital tracking tools (e.g. PLM, Excel).
- Ensure all trims are tested, approved, and delivered in line with the product development calendar.
- Provide technical input on trim performance during fittings, protos, and SMS stages.
Key Skills:
- Strong trims background within a luxury or premium fashion environment, ideally across women’s and/or men’s RTW.
- Excellent knowledge of trim types, sourcing, and application techniques.
- Confident working independently while supporting cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in PLM systems and Microsoft Office.
- Calm, organised, and responsive to evolving priorities in a design-led studio.
