Freelance Illustrator – Comic Lettering, Horror

This role is ideal for a talented illustrator with a passion for comic book art and a strong command of lettering, pencils, and ink. The project centers on a full-color adult horror-thriller, requiring the creation of detailed environmental scenes such as desert landscapes, cityscapes, parking lots, and a variety of interiors including casinos, bars, showrooms, police stations, vehicles, and residential spaces. The artist will play a key role in shaping the visual narrative, collaborating closely on artistic direction and offering creative input throughout the process. Open and clear communication is essential, as the project will involve regular video calls, emails, voice calls, texting, and social media updates. This opportunity offers the potential for ongoing work following the completion of the initial project.

Responsibilities

• Create high-quality, full-color comic book illustrations with a focus on environmental art and atmospheric storytelling
• Execute professional comic book lettering, ensuring clarity and style appropriate to the horror-thriller genre
• Collaborate closely with the project lead to refine artistic direction and incorporate feedback
• Participate in regular communication via video calls, email, voice calls, texting, and social media to ensure alignment on project goals
• Offer creative suggestions on art style, composition, and narrative flow
• Remain flexible and responsive to edits, corrections, and evolving project needs
• Adhere strictly to a no-AI policy in all aspects of the creative process

Skills And Requirements

• Proven experience as a comic book artist, with a strong portfolio demonstrating illustration and lettering skills
• Expertise in pencils, ink, and digital coloring for comics
• Ability to render detailed environments and atmospheric scenes, especially in the horror or thriller genres
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to engage through multiple channels
• Creative, adaptable, and receptive to feedback and direction
• Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
• Experience working on adult-themed or mature content is a plus
