Summary: The role of Applied Scientist / Modelling & Simulation Engineer involves developing advanced simulations to assist partner organizations in making data-driven decisions within complex environments. The position requires end-to-end management of the model lifecycle, from research and prototyping to implementation and validation. Collaboration with engineers and data scientists is essential to ensure the models are high-performance and scalable. The role also includes presenting insights to stakeholders in an accessible manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine ABMs for urban planning, transport networks, and human behaviour simulations
- Work end-to-end in the entire model lifecycle. Research and prototyping to implementation and validation.
- Analyse third-party datasets, integrating them into simulation environments
- Collaborate closely with engineers and data scientists to ensure high-performance, scalable model
- Present insights and model outcomes to key stakeholders, adapting technical findings for different audiences.
Key Skills:
- Strong Python programming skills.
- Expertise in agent-based modelling, model validation, and calibration.
- Experience working on large-scale simulations, ideally related to urban infrastructure or human behaviour.
- Knowledge of geospatial data, transport modelling, or cloud-based simulation tools is advantageous.
- A degree in a STEM subject with a mathematical component; a PhD is a plus.
