Summary: The role of Freelance Applied Modelling & Simulation Scientist involves developing advanced simulations to assist partner organizations in making data-driven decisions. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine agent-based models (ABMs) for urban planning, transport networks, and human behaviour simulations.
- Manage the entire model lifecycle from research and prototyping to implementation and validation.
- Analyze third-party datasets and integrate them into simulation environments.
- Collaborate closely with engineers and data scientists to ensure high-performance, scalable models.
- Present insights and model outcomes to key stakeholders, adapting technical findings for different audiences.
Key Skills:
- Strong Python programming skills.
- Expertise in agent-based modelling, model validation, and calibration.
- Experience with large-scale simulations, ideally related to urban infrastructure or human behaviour.
- Knowledge of geospatial data, transport modelling, or cloud-based simulation tools is advantageous.
- A degree in a STEM subject with a mathematical component; a PhD is a plus.
