Summary: The role of Fractional Finance Director involves supporting a rapidly growing retail brand in Gloucester for 2 to 3 days per week. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead strategic financial planning and ensure long-term financial sustainability.
- Own budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Strengthen financial processes, controls, and reporting.
- Deliver high-quality management information, KPIs, and performance insights.
- Oversee stock, production, and margin reporting.
- Support system and process improvements, particularly with ERP transformations.
- Provide commercial input across pricing, investment decisions, and operational performance.
- Mentor and support the finance team, driving continuous improvement.
- Adhoc support to the founders and leadership team.
Key Skills:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Senior finance experience in an SME environment.
- Experience in manufacturing, production, retail, FMCG, or similar sectors.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to support fast growth environments.
- Demonstrable systems experience including ERP upgrades or implementations.
- Comfortable working strategically while remaining hands-on.

Harmonic Finance are delighted to be partnering with a rapidly scaling retail brand based in Gloucester who are looking for a Fractional Finance Director to support them 2 to 3 days per week. Having built a loyal customer base and expanded their presence across retail and hospitality channels our client is now entering it's next phase of growth. With a non-corporate environment, the business is seeking a hands on and strategically minded finance leader who can elevate financial rigor while supporting long term growth ambitions. Reporting directly to SLT, this role offers the chance to shape the financial strategy of a high growth SME. You will provide forward-looking commercial insight, strengthen financial operations and mentor an existing team. The ideal candidate has experience in a scaleup environment having been out an impressive period of growth or change.
Lead strategic financial planning, ensuring long term financial sustainability and supporting future growth events. Own budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management, partnering with both finance and nonfinance teams. Strengthen financial processes, controls and reporting to support scale. Deliver high quality management information, KPIs and performance insights. Oversee stock, production and margin reporting, ensuring visibility across the supply chain. Support system and process improvements, with strong appreciation of ERP transformation; experience with NetSuite/Microsoft Dynamic 365 or other systems implementations is advantageous. Provide commercial input across pricing, investment decisions and operational performance. Mentor and support the finance team, building capability and driving continuous improvement. Adhoc support to the founders and leadership team.
What We Need to See (Essential): Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). Senior finance experience in an SME environment, ideally as Finance Director, Financial Controller or Fractional FD or CFO. Experience in manufacturing, production, retail, FMCG or similar product led sectors would be looked upon favorably. Strong commercial acumen with ability to support fast growth environments; PE or VC backing experience beneficial. Demonstrable systems experience including ERP upgrades or implementations. Comfortable working strategically while remaining hands on.
Day Rate £800 to £1000 per day – Outside IR35 Start Date / Duration ASAP / 6 months Commitment 2 to 3 days per week (fractional) Hybrid working offered
