Summary: The role of Fractional CFO involves leading financial strategy and planning for a high-growth, pre-private equity-backed services business in Greater Manchester. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead financial strategy and planning to support rapid growth and value creation
- Prepare the business for PE investment, including financial modelling, forecasts, and valuation support
- Own the end-to-end PE fundraising process, working with founders, advisors, and investors
- Ensure investment-grade financial reporting, controls, and governance
- Act as a strategic partner to the leadership team, providing commercial insight and challenge
Key Skills:
- Proven experience as a CFO or senior finance leader in high-growth or PE-backed businesses
- Demonstrable success raising capital from Private Equity investors
- Strong expertise in financial modelling, due diligence, and investor relations
- Commercial, pragmatic, and hands-on approach, comfortable operating in fast-moving environments
- Ability to influence at board and investor level

Sowena Group has been exclusively retained by a high-growth, pre-private equity–backed £5m+ EBITDA multi-site services business in Greater Manchester to appoint an experienced Fractional CFO. With the permanent CFO search now commencing, the business is seeking a hands-on Fractional finance leader for 2–3 days per week to support a critical stage of its investment journey. Working closely with the CEO, board and advisers, the successful candidate will help drive the transaction process, manage the increasing demands of due diligence and ensure the business is fully prepared from a financial perspective as it moves towards securing investment. This role requires a commercially focused CFO with strong private equity and deal experience, a pragmatic and hands-on approach, and a proven ability to step into fast-paced environments and help get transactions successfully over the line. Immediate availability is highly desirable.
